Julie Guirado
Executive Director
Julie Guirado is the Executive Director of Center for Humane Technology. In her role, she leads the organization’s strategic direction, scaling its impact across research, media, and policy.
Julie believes that technology represents society’s most critical challenge, and that the narratives we hold around “progress” influence technological outcomes. With social media and AI, we’ve had to ask: what kind of progress are we actually building, and who is shaping it? Technology can enhance our humanity, or extract from it, depending on the incentives driving it. By interrogating today’s “progress” narratives around technology, Julie believes we can advocate for products – and visions of the future – that truly benefit all of society.
Julie previously served as CHT’s Chief Operating Officer, where she drove strategic planning and execution across operations, communications, and organizational growth. She helped connect CHT’s high-profile communications to policy and litigation strategies, and ensured CHT’s work reached the leaders and institutions positioned to create change.
Prior to joining CHT, Julie led finance and operations teams across nonprofit, for-profit, and entrepreneurial ventures. Born in France, Julie graduated from top French business school ESSEC, and went on to study organizational psychology at Harvard. Julie’s work has spanned across 30 countries, and she brings a human-centered perspective to all of her endeavors.
In her spare time, Julie enjoys rock climbing, reading, cooking, and practicing mindfulness. She is based in New York City.
