Julie Johnston
Chief of Staff
Julie Johnston is the Chief of Staff at the Center for Humane Technology, where she partners with organizational leadership to support strategic alignment, operational clarity, and a strong, mission-driven culture. She brings a systems-oriented, people-centered approach to helping CHT operate effectively to advance the purposeful work of the organization.
Julie began her career during Silicon Valley’s dot-com era at IBM Global Services, leading software development projects before becoming a freelance project management consultant. As a parent, she developed a deep interest in understanding and preventing the harms of technology and social media, which ultimately led her to the Center for Humane Technology. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Brown University.
Julie is based in Darien, CT and enjoys yoga, gardening, skiing, and solving all kinds of puzzles.
Fun fact: After her early career in technology, Julie made a pivot to pursue her passion for flowers, working as a professional floral designer in the Bay Area for over a decade. She still conducts periodic floral design workshops to share her joy of flowers with others.
